Answer» Can someone PLEEEEASE help me??? I set an Internal Hard Drive Password for my laptop (haven't used in a LONG time) and I cannot remember what it is ........I've tried EVERYTHING I can possibly think of and I still can't get in.
Is there any other way I can get rid of this stupid HD password and get into my laptop??
PLEASE PLEASE HELP You need to contact the maker of the laptop and show evidence that you own it, such as a purchase receipt. They will probably make a charge for resetting your password. Otherwise you now have a paperweight.
You MUST have the hdd password. Even if you put the drive in another pc you won't have access to it (a hdd password is encoded on the disk). You can't even format it and use it again. There are some companies that claim to be able to recover hdd passwords and data but they are very expensive and do not guarantee their work. If you really need the data do a search on the net and pick one out.
The alternative is to buy and install a new hard drive, and install WINDOWS on it off a licensed CD.
Think about it. If laptop passwords were so easy to crack that you could read about it on the net, they wouldn't be worth having, would they?
Yea you do have a point Thank youAlthough I haven't did this look at the below download.
http://www.hdd-tools.com/products/rrs/download/Nice link Street1 im probably going to try it out today.Nice work, street1, you just pointed a hundred laptop thieves and data snoopers in the right direction...
Sounds highly dubious to me... pay $50 to unlock a hard drive, no checks on ownership, pay by Paypal, open to abuse it seems to me.
Also, if wendymt asked the question, how come MICH431 thanked you for the link?
While I agree the site is a bit suspicious I don't think streeet1 has done data thieves any favors. It only takes a simple search to get to that site or any number of other sites offering similar services. Besides, if you have sensitive data to protect you should take better measures than a hdd password. I guess you're right Deerpark. No offence intended, street1. I suppose the people who steal laptops for commercial or international espionage will know exactly what to do without going to one of those sites.
