Answer» How do I change my Internal IP address? Is this your own home network? How many computers?Yes it's my own network. 6 computers.Do you want to change all of them or just one?just oneYou will have to assign a static IP that is outside the range currently being assigned. How do I do that, In the router settings? or from each individual computer? From each individual computer. If you want to change all of them, you can go into the routers setup and change the range ALLOWED for assignment. This would require all the computers to release and renew the IP's or a reboot. Thanks for helping but I worked it out. I was assigning the IP Addresses for each computer in the router settings. When i went to see attached devices it showed up the computers connected but the IP didn't change.
So I assigned all the internal IP's then went to each computer, went into the command prompt, typed ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew and then the internal IP changed.I can't just change the range. Because I need to assign an internal IP to each computer. I have assigned them to each MAC Address for each computer so that war driver's can't use my internet.
If a war driver cracks my passkey for the router they won't be able to get in because his MAC address will be dis allowed by my router.Allow "Broadcast" SSID to ASSOCIATE? Yes No
If you have this setting in your router, make use of it. It should prevent your SSID from being broadcast. If they don't know you are there, they won't try to connect.
edit: MAC addresses can be CLONED. You should limit the number of IP's that can be assigned to the minimum necessary.I turned off SSID Broadcasting a while AGO and then my laptop couldn't find the network. So I turned it back on.
I have 6 computers, the router's IP is 192.168.1.1 (Default) and then for the 6 computer's their range is from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.7
So I have limited the number of available IP's but most of the time there will only be about 3 computers turned on, So there are still plenty of IP's available for use of War Drivers. But I don't think I'd get anyone War Driving in my town because the population is about 4000 and there are only about 10 people I know that know a lot about computers like I do.
