Solve : Internet Explorer 7.0?

Answer»

Hello,
I need help with problems encountered while saving e-mail messages from Hotmail.
I save important e-mail message to "My Documents" then I cannot open them. This pop up bar opens at top of page and says "To help PROTECT your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running Scripts or Active X controls that could access your computer. Then when I click on the tab in another window which allows me to over-ride this warning to "view content" and allow scripting and Active X controls it doesn't work. A warning pops up saying "Cannot Open" please ensure that internet connection is correct or path to file is correct, something to that effect.

Can anyone assist me to rectify this problem, sounds like I have something enabled maybe in the security section of Internet Exporer, that I don't want enabled that is preventing me from opening my saved e-mail messages. I didn't have this problem a few days ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated, frustrated. Merry X-mas to all and Happy New Year 2008!
Cheers,
AndyHi Andy. How are you saving these e-mails from IE7? Just saving the whole webpage? If that's the case, they won't open properly from the computer when you try.

Here are some things you could try:

1) Copy the text of the mail and save it into a Word or Text document, then giving it an appropriate title.

2) Use POP3 with Outlook or another e-mail client of your choosing. Unfortunately, Hotmail no longer supports this for free, but Gmail does. This is one of the reasons I changed from Hotmail to Gmail.Hi,
THANKS for your help I wasn't aware that this event occurred with Hotmail. I'll give the G-mail thing a try and also try copying the content of the message from now on and saving it in a word doc like you said and see if that works.
I'll let you know thanks again.
Cheers,
Andy Quaxo beat me to the puch, but yes hotmail nologer supports this feature for free. Give g-mail a try it is amazing, I think you will like it.

Have a happy holidays.Gmail works very nicely with Outlook Express or Outlook. There are other mail clients out there if you don't like either of these.

Gmail can also be checked from any browser when you're away from your home computer, any phone or other handheld device that supports POP mail (like PDAs), and you also get a massive amount of storage space (5GB) so you can keep a good archive online should you ever lose your emails from your computer.

HotPOP.com also OFFERS free POP service, and they're currently beta testing webmail access.Hey all,
Thanks for the TIPS, I registered with G-Mail and saved messages the way you suggested ands it works fine! thanks once again everyone much appreciated. However I couldn't recover the earlier saved docs, so I deleted them, no way to re-open them at all.
Have a great holiday everyone!
Cheers,
AndyIf you've got mails in your Hotmail account you'd like to keep, you can forward them to your new Gmail account, then they will download and can be saved through Outlook (or whatever you're using).
