When I try and get on the internet or email I get an error. I then go into internet setup and find that pop3 has changed to 127.0.0.1. I enter my internet server and can then get email and on the internet but when I SHUT down the pc and bring it back up it has REVERTED to 127.0.0.1. I have the latest Microsoft updates and antivirus and I also ran adware but it doesn't help. Any help will be appreciated.That is the COMPUTER's loop back address. Are you using a software proxy?I'm not sure what a software proxy isWhat happened prior to this? Did it ever work correctly? Any playing about with settings? If a recent change, how about a system restore to a point when it did work?I tried a restore and it didn't clear up the problem. None of the settings were changed . I have windows XP home edition , macafie antivirus and I have ran adware to get rid of spyware. I know that the problem started about 2 months ago and the restore doesn't go back any further than that.Picked this up from "Googling" pop3 127.0.0.1:

"If you have McAfee's Internet Security installed then you also have
McAfee's SpamKiller installed. This program changes your settings in the
default email program. Outlook's pop3 server should be 127.0.0.1 and
the USER name/account needs to be your full email address."

Also...

"You need to turn off email scanning with McAfee or else it will probably
revert again."

Turn off the email scanning in McAfee, SET your email to the correct server and try to get your email.
