Answer» System - HP m9000t - Q6600(quad) - 4GB ram - Vista The only solution to this problem that I have found is to do a hard reset(meaning just hold down the power button)You don't want to do this too many times... Let's hurry up, before you won't be able to connect at all... 1. Run free ESET Online Scanner at: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only 1. You will notice that the "Start" button is grayed out. Place a check mark at "Yes, I accept the Terms of USE". The "Start" button will become visible. Click on it. 2. If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it 3. You will be asked to install an ActiveX, click the "Install" button (Note: If you have a Firewall install you may have to approve the installation) 4. Once ActiveX control is installed click on the "Start" button to initialize the scanner 5. After initialization is COMPLETE uncheck\untick "Remove found threats" 6. Check\tick "Scan unwanted applications" 7. Click the "Scan" button 8. Once the scan is done, you will find a log in C:\Program Files\esetonlinescanner\log.txt Post ESET's log. 2. Download SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users: http://www.superantispyware.com/ Print these instructions out. * Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation. * An ICON will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program. * If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here: http://www.superantispyware.com/definitions.html.) * Close SUPERAntiSpyware. Restart computer in Safe Mode. To enter Safe Mode, restart computer, and keep tapping F8 key, until menu appears; pick Safe Mode; you'll see "Safe Mode" in all four corners of your screen * Open SUPERAntiSpyware. * Under "CONFIGURATION and Preferences", click the Preferences button. * Click the Scanning Control tab. * Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked): o Close browsers before scanning. o Scan for tracking cookies. o Terminate memory threats before quarantining. * Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen. * Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer. * On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive. * On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan. * Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer. * After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK". * Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next". * A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu. * If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes". * To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again. o Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab. o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log. o If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor. o Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply with a new HijackThis log. * Click Close to exit the program. Post SUPERAntiSpyware log. 3. Download HijackThis: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hijackthis.html Post HijackThis log.I tried the ESET in IE7 and it says "Error: initialize OnlineScanner Administrator rights required" But this is my computer and I am the only user. So ?? I'll keep going with the other stuff thanksOK.Here are the logs I only deleted the cookies SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log http://www.superantispyware.com Generated 01/05/2008 at 10:06 PM Application Version : 3.9.1008 Core Rules Database Version : 3374 Trace Rules Database Version: 1369 Scan type : Complete Scan Total Scan Time : 04:18:21 Memory items scanned : 219 Memory threats detected : 0 Registry items scanned : 8896 Registry threats detected : 0 File items scanned : 290332 File threats detected : 22 Adware.Tracking Cookie C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][1].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][2].txt C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\[emailprotected][1].txt BearShare File Sharing Client D:\BITLORD\BEARSHARE PRO V5.2.5.3 (FINAL)\BEARSHARE_PRO_V5[1].2.5.3-DIGERATI\CRACK\BEARSHARE.EXE Unclassified.Unknown Origin D:\PROGRAMS TO HAVE\ZSDUPLICATEHUNTER_PRO_2_21\ZSDUPLICATEHUNTERPROFESSIONALV2.21KEYGENDIGERATI\KEYGEN.NFO Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 1:06:28 AM, on 1/6/2008 Platform: Windows Vista (WinNT 6.00.1904) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16575) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exe C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE C:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe C:\hp\support\hpsysdrv.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\On-Screen OSD Indicator\OSD.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\IAAnotif.exe C:\Windows\RtHDVCpl.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\Sound Blaster X-Fi\Volume Panel\VolPanlu.exe C:\Windows\System32\CTXFIHLP.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\GrooveMonitor.exe C:\Windows\System32\CTXFISPI.EXE C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe C:\Windows\ehome\ehtray.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe C:\Windows\ehome\ehmsas.exe C:\Program Files\Windows MEDIA Player\wmpnscfg.exe C:\Windows\system32\schtasks.exe C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exe C:\Windows\system32\Taskmgr.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - This will reset your IE7 to the way it was before you ever touched it. But you'll lose all settings, and bookmarks so save all you want before you do this. MSN messenger works, so your internet connection isn't the problem. It's probably computer/browser issue. Try and see if IE7 will work now.I use firefox almost exclusively. Have reset IE7, we'll see if that helps - the problem is kind of random, so we'll just have to wait and see.Got up this morning and the computer was in the same snag again - firefox and IE7 just showed "cannot display the page" and my MSN messenger was up and running. I went into the device manager and verified that the ethernet and wireless cards have up to date drivers.
