Answer» To the point. Received a used laptop with WIN XP. Could not release IP address (ipconfig /release) at home with Comcast service. Tech tried to help to no avail. Was told card probably bad. Took it to BEST buy to the G Squad. They released it, and got it working on their network. Returned home - can not release. Took it back to Best Buy - ran WinFixto reset registries. Worked again in the store. Came home - once again no luck. No /release or /renew. Please help with any suggestions. THANK you.Do you have another card to try with? It could be finnicky. Are the Workgroup names correct and matching? Can you see other wireless workgroup in your NEIGHBORHOOD? I can not even get it to read IP through hardwire from the modem. It will not release the default IP numbers on the laptop.
