Solve : ipconfig stopped working?

Answer»

Hi,

My ipconfig for some reasons stopped working. I typed in ipconfig in the command prompt it tells me " 'ipconfig' is not recongnized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file "
It was working fine before. I did go into the system -> enviroment variables to edit a PATH because a program I installed requires me to do so. I might have DELETED something without knowing it. Can someone HELP me?

BTW, I have Win 2000 pro on my PC.

Thanks in advance.

MacPCipconfig.exe is usually found under c:\windows\system32.  Make sure you still have the DIRECTORY in your path.Hi Rob,

Thanks for the quit REPLY. In the enviroment, I typed in C:\WINNT\system32\ipconfig.exe, but it still doesn't work. (On Win 2K, There's only WINNT folder, not Windows.) Any ideas?   BTW, what are all these things in the system Enviroment Variables  anyway? :-?

MacPCOh, in the command prompt I typed in this path c:\winnt\system32\ipconfig.exe then it works, but howcome before I could just typed in ipconfig in any directory without going through this? The environment variable "PATH" tells Windows where to look for commands, when it doesn't KNOW what folder a program is in.  If you just type "ipconfig", it checks all of the folders that are in the PATH variable, until it finds the program.  Hence why you need to put that folder back into the path variable.Put c:\winnt\system32 in your path, not c:\winnt\system32\ipconfig.Hi Rob
