Answer» I FOUND that by TURNING off the auto protect on my Norton anti virus that it solved my shut down problem which was the PUTER froze up when I shut down, but is it safe to have your auto protect shut off when your puter starts up, I have cable connection and thought that - that kept you connected to the internet at all times, which makes me think I want auto protect on.. And if it is safe, is there another way around this "shut down problem" without having to turn AP on and off all the TIME? thanks in advance for any advicei suggest TRYING a firewall, even norton firewall. does your auto-protect use alot of CPU?lizzee.......Is it safe ......No it's not safe to be without Anti virus protection .......I would be more concerned about why you can't shutdown without a lockup......
