Solve : ISO Images to USB Drive?

Answer»

I have the ISO images of several discs on my hard drive to install Windows7.  I do not want to burn them all to DVDs, how do I create a bootable USB drive with the ISO images as if they were on one disc? Quote from: et_phonehome_2 on December 28, 2010, 10:05:55 AM

I have the ISO images of several discs on my hard drive to install Windows7.

Are these ISO images of Microsoft Windows 7 install disks?
I think This is applicable in with virtual machines only built with vmware or virtual pc  not physical machinesfaragas, you are incorrect. It is possible to place ISO files, that are images of bootable optical media, onto a USB drive in such a way that they can be selected by a menu and used to boot a real (or virtual) MACHINE. However I wish to hear from the OP his answer to my question before I give any more details, for reasons which ought to be fairly clear.

One would also query why are you trying to boot windows from an ISO file? Did the computer not come with a disk or a partition to boot from?
Again I should say we DO NOT help with pirated versions of any software.
I'm sure I will be POINTED out that Microsoft has now started issuing ISO files as a way to boot but I doubt it.

I understand that the original poster never mentioned a windows install but that was where it was going...

but any file that is a ISO has to be questioned. Quote from: Mulreay on December 28, 2010, 05:16:46 PM

He didn't clearly say he was doing that. Read the post.

Really? Like a Windows Recovery CD? I have one of those on a pen drive myself.

What did you think I was already doing, Mulreay? Did you ACTUALLY read any of this thread?

I have always copied all my DVDs whether they are ISO images or not to a hard drive just in case they ever go bad or I misplace the originals.  I need to rebuild one of my old machine which had Windows7 installed which has gone bad, and do not feel like burning them to DVDs.

Never mind, I found out how to do it, very similar to Linux.... Quote from: Salmon Trout on December 29, 2010, 12:01:51 AM

Why don't you back up and stop being the person that lots of people hate. I'm fine with going toe to toe fool. I despise people like you... full of mouth and nothing else. Always the attitude and nothing constructive.
I will be happy to TELL you that a lot HATE you. You know why? Because you have a MAJOR bad attitude! Does that compute?
I have a bad attitude but I reign it in, you however have a strangle hold where people find you useful.

Why should I go offline? Tell him to drop the attitude of 'holier than thou'. My post was DIRECTED at both of you. No more ATTACKS in the thread please - either one of you. Quote from: Allan on December 31, 2010, 01:33:36 PM
