Solve : Japanese modem, English OS - Lost in Translation?

Answer»

I finally figured out how to install my Windows XP Home Edition English version, and now my Japanese modem will not work.  It still works on my other computer with its Japanese OS though.
I tried the following.  I searched for the type of modem through the help SECTION of this website.  I can't find it.
It may be unknown to most of you.

Yahoo BB Japan, model Trio 1 (12MB)

Under phone and modem options, add hardware "wizard"...
When I try to install a new modem, it doesn't find any Plug and Play devices.  So, I try to select my modem from a list, and try all of them; none work.  Next I try to install it from disk.  It says the specified location (e:) does not contain information about your hardware.

I try just to run the automatic install from the disk directly.  It gives me one option to CHOSE from  - the 1394 Net adapter : 1394 connection -  and I get the following error messages.
--------------------------

Ping test 127.0.0.1
reply from 127.0.0.1 bytes=20 time=234ms TTL=128
reply from 127.0.0.1 bytes=20 time=15ms TTL=128

4/4 ok

DNS TEST
Address Error!
ERROR

(repeats 3 TIMES)

HTTP TEST : www.yahoo.co.jp (80)

I don't know what to do.  I see no reason why on the Japanese version XP it works, but on English XP it won't.
Anyone have any tips to start me off in the right direction?  Are you refering to Modem software or hardware?

You may need to download drivers from the manufacturer's website.'Trio' sounds like an S3 chipset trademark. Examine the modem and get more info on the maker and use search tools and driver archiving sites to locate EN (English) drivers for it.JUst wanted to say that I cleared up the PROBLEM.  I dont know exactly how, but I did.  Thanks for the input!
