They usually start at about $80, installation can be much more DEPENDING on the laptop. If the HDD tests good, then more info would be useful. Are you using restore CDS, a recovery partition, or a windows CD? Was the computer having PROBLEMS prior to formatting? Where are your drivers located? A chkdsk/r from the command line shouldn't hurt either.
