Answer» can any body help me out ? i have just instaleed a new o,s ( windows xp) on my new hdd and my computer keeps crashing at randomn POINTS during SETUP i have tried using diffrent hdds and diffrent system install disks does any body know why this could be happening ?more details on the computer.. like specs power SUPPLY ram cpu and why are you changing hhd?Yes, more details, please. What OS were you running before? The first 3 things I WOULD try: Check your system board for any cracked or bulging capacitors (BROWNISH stuff coming out of the top). Try updating your BIOS to the latest version, and reset BIOS settings to the defaults. Try running a memory test on your computer (www.memtest.org) Don't flash the BIOS...most times this is NOT the issue... Check the jumper settings on that new hard drive and remove any other hard drives until you get the new one setup and up and booting successfully... It should be jumpered as master and connected to the END of the ribbon cable.
