Solve : L2 cache?

Answer»
I have a Zenith Director model Z8081 Laptop. The processor is Intel M 1.70GHz with 2MB of L2 cache. But the post boot screen says "L2 cache not installed", the BIOS version is 4.00.00 whereas the initialized version is 3.00.05. The system has become slow too. All this started after I changed the CMOS battery. Is this a concern or a normal thing? Please COMMENT.

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]After REPLACEMENT of a CMOS battery in any PC, one must go into the BIOS and select the options desired for bust performance. This may not be the default settings. Default settings are sometimes the safer settings. Check the BIOS.Thanks Geek.
I tried to change the BIOS settings, but it has very few options, like- choosing the boot device,
video RAM size and date/time only. I have changed the settings to "Fail safe defaults". It did not work. Please help.Did you do a BIOS flash on this PC ? ?
If so it sounds like it was the incorrect one... Quote from: gajashadhir on May 05, 2013, 09:41:36 AM

Total Physical Memory      768.00 MB
Not ENOUGH RAM anymore for WinXP SP3 + all security updates, AV, etc.  Needs 2GB (1GB, minimum).
Probably time for a newer laptop. Thanks Computer commando.
I thought I COULD carry on.
