Answer» The laptop is a Packard Bell EasyNote MX with 1.6 Ghz Intel DUO processor and 512 MB RAM. Its a fresh and CLEAN version of windows xp and nothing has been changed. i tried connecting to my wireless NETWORK in the normal way by going to control panel and then network connections and then search for wireless networks....then it asked for the network password or WAP and i entered it correctly...after that it just kept on saying that it was acquiring a network address but nothing else...i tried to repair it but no success in connecting to the internet. I also tried ipconfig/ renew and ipconfig/ release. does anyone know why this is happening or what can be done to fix this?Have you tried turning off the moden/router for a minute and turn it back on...wait at least 2 minutes brfore trying the connection again.Hello patio!
Nope...i tried what you told but nothing's changed. It's the same as before. Is it build-in wireless, or wireless card? Is the switch on? Did you install motherboard drivers?Hello again.
I'm not sure whether its BUILT-in wireless or wireless card...but it's a laptop and it had and still has wireless accessibility when i first bought it (and i haven't modified the hardware)...Yes the switch is on. No...i didn't do anything about motherboard drivers . We had bought the laptop around 2-3 years AGO and it was working fine almost the whole time...then we bought another laptop with Vista on it...and this became a sort of spare one...recently i decided to turn it on...but it had problems booting up (i dont know why)...so i decided to recover the computer using the recovery disc which was made when i bought it...it recovered successfully...then this problem started. btw, we have wireless security (WPA) for the router here...(if that helps in fixing this).
Awaiting a reply. If its built in you wont see a card sticking out of the side, and if restarting doesn't help, contact your provider. Good luckyeah...i think its built-in then...and i don't want to contact the people at my service provider unless i don't have any choice left.If you know the setting for your wireless security then get into the router / turn off the security / try the old laptop / if it works then reset the security as it was before/ try again.
Alan <>< If you reinstalled using recovery CDs, then the connection should work right away. It may be something wrong with network adapter driver. Any errors in Device Manager?Hello everyone!
Thanks for all your advice...the connection is proper now!! The solution posted by ale52 was the one that worked for me...thanks to all the others for trying to help as well!
This problem is now resolved. Thanks for posting back
