Answer» Toshiba Satellite A45-S150 (originally loaded w/ Windows XP)
Was running Windows XP SP3.
ACPI BIOS 1.5
A few months after purchase this restore disk loaded wo a problem. But now, laptop does not recognize the Restore disk as a SYSTEM disk. With Toshiba support ran through w/ no success - purchased new recovery disk resulting in the same problem. Toshiba offers no further support on this laptop.
Loaded Puppy linux live CD. CD Drive works, and laptop runs fine. I even tried a HP Restore Disk, the system recognized the disk, but, of course it was incompatible.
Lastly, I did run across a few discussions about the CDFS (ISO 9660) standards. It seems at some point in the past the standards were changed to UDFS, and the layering is different. One commenter thought the problem might be that updates to the BIOS MAY have affected his machine in this way and was looking at FLASHING the BIOS. I've practically given upon this, but thought I'd ask if anyone may know the cause or have a solution? Here are the Toshiba upgrades, if you're interested.

Stab in the dark, prayer in the wind and a lot hope and luck. See if u can run it off a Virtual Box (VB). Try to download Sun VB, into any MAC, Linux or Windows box. Just to be sure to download the correct version. Sometimes the VB will be able to pick up some of this CD's. One other idea another got nothing to loose idea. Try install Puppy with Grub, then try a dual BOOT. Grub does a better job of managing bootdisk and the MBR. At this stage there is nothing to loose. Write back and let us known.
