Answer» hi, just came across your forum tonight and am hoping someone can help me.
i recently reformatted my laptop, using straight windows xp, not the recovery partition, which got corrupted so i no longer have it.
everything works fine except that it will not power down or hibernate properly. in both instances, i get to the 'it is now SAFE to turn off your compter' screen and have to push the power button to either turn it off or hibernate. shutting my laptop does nothing, it just continues to run. in device manager, i only have the option for standard computer, not APCI. i can't set any APM options, my laptop just freezes when i try.
i forced a HAL to APCI (pressed F5 i believe instead of F6 when installing xp), it seemed to accept it, but no change still.
when i go into the BIOS, i am missing the 'power' menu item, so cannot tell my system to use APCI. i have the most up to date bios for my system, and am at a loss as to what to do now. i've INSTALLED all windows updates as well. any help would be appreciated, thanks!
nec versa e2000 phoenix bios v 379B0800 intel celeron M 1.50 256 mb ram winxp home sp2You may need to download the power saving feature from NEC website, based on your model number.hmmmm. would that be 'Intel Chipset 82865 G/PE/P Driver'? that's the only thing on the nec website, for this laptop, that i'm not entirely sure what it's for. the others are:
modem sound chipset video keyboard bios (i have the most up to date ONE) touch pad wireless lan utility for intel proset wireless utility patch (both listed there are for sonic record now)
i don't see anything there for power management options, unless it's under something else?
does anyone know where i can get this? thanks.
