Answer» I'm running Windows XP Home Edition on an Acer Aspire 9410 laptop. I use FireFox and rarely IE. Processor is Intel Centrino Duo, T2050 @ 1.60GHz Memory: 1022MB RAM Used space on C is 17.3GB with 36.3GB free space Used space on D is 9.53GB with 44.6GB free space Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 I bought this computer last OCTOBER, by January it was already ridiculously slow taking up to 10 minutes to start up, I couldn't watch any movies or play music, sound and image would freeze constantly. Every one in three times I would start the computer I would get the check disk utility screen. I took my comp back to where I bought it and asked for it to be fixed. It was returned in exactly the same state, apparently they couldnt fix it. Shortly after that I got the infamous blue screen and my computer crashed and windows wouldn't start up. I had to restore to factory settings. SINCE then I've had no problems whatsoever until last week. As I was playing a game (which was playing fine for the week before) it started slowing more and more, until today where I can't play any game, watch any movie and my comp freezes from time to time. I started getting the check disk utility at start-up a few times but this seems to have stopped now. It seems as though there is constantly a huge resource sucking program running in the background. The only threat I've come across recently is winzix but I managed to COMPLETELY remove that in safe mode (I hope! ). I use AVG anti-virus and spyware, I updated and ran full system scans both haven't showed anything alarming, I've TRIED defragmenting C and used CCleaner. 30 or so issues were found but all were fixed. This is exactly how the problems started last time...I've lost my faith in the "experts" I took it to last time maybe you guys could help me out?? I would like to know if I'm doing something wrong? Or maybe I didn't get rid of the problem the first time and its back again? And ofcourse..how do I fix this without setting the computer back to factory settings again?
