Answer» Dear all,
Hi, this is my first post to these forums and I'm sorry the first thing I do is beg for help, but such is my understanding of computers that any help I offer will most likely be disastrous!
Anyhow, I recently purchased an LG Flatron L1718S 17" flat screen monitor. It works fine and, after a bit of trial and error, I settled on a screen resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels. That WORKED well until yesterday, whereupon half the screen suddenly failed to load or something! My password protection is happily in the centre but when Windows itself loads up the screen is in completely the wrong place, as if the right hand limit was right down the centre of the screen rather than to the right hand side. Altering the settings of the screen using its own controls can MOVE it slightly to the right, but nowhere like all the way to the other side.
I've rectified the problem by changing my resolution to 1152 by 864 but this is a LITTLE too small for me to read comfortably and I am WORRIED that the problem will turn up at this resolution, and the next and the next... Similarly changing back to 1024 causes the same bizarre half screen effect.
Does ANYONE know why this is happening and can you please suggest a solution?
Cheers,
jamesHave you tried re-installing your video drivers ? ? Also power down and re-check all cable connections...Are you making use of Nvidia SLI or ATI Crossfire?
The native resolution of your monitor is most likely 1024x786, perhaps even 1280x1024. Any other resolution just doesn't work right.
