Solve : limited number of windows?

Answer»

for some reason on both my laptop(brand new with windows vista) and my older desktop with XP i can only OPEN a limited number of windows before i have to restart my computer. for example i will be browsing through my folders or opening up my pictures or whatever and say i have 6 windows (just for example) open. after a while it WONT let me open a 7th one, then i can close one window so that i have 5 open and then i can open and close a 6th one for a while, but then it will do it again and i will only be able to have 4 always open, and open and close a 5th one, and so on and so on untill i cant open any, not even my start menu to shut down. does anyone have any IDEAS why this is happening is it a virus or is it just a setting that is on the computers, because once i restart my computer it doesnt happen for a couple hours of usewhat kind of anti virus you got?did you GO for windows update all of this just for in case.
think it should be your vista setting, try check you setting.inside folder option / IE.
A quick question. Have you ever had these computer connected together in a network? If so, and they are both doing this then I would say it sounds like a virus. If you can give us more information on this then we can help you out more.i use avast as a virus checker, and havent found any virus' on either computer, and i have run them both on the same internet connection but i dont know how to set them up as a network, so unless i have done it by accident they have never been set up together on a network

thanks for the replys so far thoughWhat do you mean you run them on the same Internet? At the same time? Do you have them both connected to a router? If so that's considered a network. That would explain how they shared the virus. Restart into safe mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8. Run your virus and anti spyware scans in safe mode.their connected to the internet through a wireless router
Take a look at your processes in the task manager, is there anything 'odd' happening in there? (Memory Usage)You could try adding more virtual memory to your compouter/s. how much memory do they have?
