Solve : Line 16558 of the INF \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid?

Answer»

Hello I am trying to REINSTALL windows XP on this old IBM 300GL. However I keep getting this error:

Line 16558 of the INF \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid
Hit a key to restart

Anyways I've googled it and I've found no answers. One hint I think is relevant was to UPDATE the bios, however when I used it, it kept on restarting the computer

If anyone could please help me it would be much appreciated!

FYI, The xp disc is not SCRATCHED, i've done MEMORY checks that turned out fine, i've used different CD/DVD roms, to no avail. I've also reset the cmos with the jumpers. Changed RAM

TYAre you using an original MS XP install disk or one which has been slipstreamed and includes a .sif file to allow an unattended installation? Please show what is contained in the invalid line.I am using an original xp install disk. As you are trying to install on an old IBM 300GL the info in this site may be relevant.

EXACTLY how are you doing the installation? This may sound elementary, but installing it by booting up with the xp disc inside.Quote from: jago1880 on December 07, 2010, 08:37:18 PM
