Answer» Hi all - when I boot up my COMPUTER everything is fine. However, once the vista symbol is shown the screen goes black instead of the log in screen appearing. The mouse arrow can be seen and the screen works fine but the log in screen just can't be seen. Everything works fine in safe mode.
It's happened twice before but over time, after much restarting and simply waiting a day or two, the log in screen always reappears and things goes back to normal. I then did a system restore and everything appeared to have gone back to normal with the log in reappearing just fine.
However, I left the computer last NIGHT for probably around 20 minutes and when I GOT back, the screen had gone completely blank with only the arrow working. I restarted it and the log-in screen won't appear again. The vista symbol looks a bit narrow and squeezed though. I did another system restore in safe mode but it hasn't worked.
I think this all started when I tried to update my graphics driver to play The Sims 3 ( ) but I undid it when I did a system restore. My moniter SEEMS to work fine.
I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.
