Answer» Okay, so, I bought a Logitech QuickCam Express last night at Walmart for $26.. it was a GOOD buy. I got it home, and i used it on my computer, and it worked fine. Then, this morning, I got up, went to use it, and my computer almost COMPLETELY stopped responding. I opened up TASK manager to investigate, and this: http://sexy.whatisnotmyip.com/jperkins/*SPAM*.png is what I found. I tried updating the drivers to the latest version, i've restarted a million times, and nothing's changed. Anytime the green light on my camera comes on, my computer slows to a crawl and System starts using 100% CPU. as soon as i unplug the camera, or stop the program that's using it, it starts acting like normal again. Anyone got any advice? what are your system specs? in other words cpu, memory e.c.t. It sounds like your computer cant handle itCan't exactly see all the processes running from that screenshot however it looks like FireFox GOBBLING up the most... DLoad and install Process Explorer to give you a clearer view of exactly what is happening...Okay, I figured something out. If I uninstall the drivers, restart, and then REINSTALL them, the camera works fine until the next reboot, when I have to reinstall the drivers again.
@ programming_pat: I know my computer is capable of using the webcam, because as I previously stated, it works fine until I reboot.
@ patio: I'll give process explorer a try.
thanks a bunch for the help. -John
EDIT: Okay, I ran process explorer, and started Logitech QuickCapture, and as expected, System shot up to almost 100% CPU usage. I couldn't see any sub-processes of System using any CPU at all. This is really confusing.. Return it for a replacement. Although it may not be the hardware this will eliminate it as a possibility. Also check Logitech's site to see if there are any issues with this unit...
