Answer» My relative is having a large amount of difficulty using my computer for everyday tasks, such as using the internet, receiving emails, and loading emails with more than just text such as advertisements from Home Depot.
She USES OUTLOOK 2007 for her email, and Internet Explorer 7 for internet purposes. She often finds that IE lags when Outlook is sending/receiving email. However, the lag does not seem to be limited to just that.
She THOUGHT upgrading to IE8 would fix some of these problems. However, some of the pages would not display after she had installed it, leading her back to IE7.
Scans have been run with both AVG and MalwareBytes, and the viruses that were on this computer have been disposed of and removed from their individual "vaults" for quarantining.
I have also defragged the computer a couple of times, the latest time as recently as two weeks ago.
This leaves me with no good answer as to why this is happening. Will the computer need to be upgraded, or is there something I could try that I have not yet? (I have heard things about the registry possibly having an effect, but I haven't played around with that yet).
Does anyone here have anything to recommend??

NOTE: This computer has a dual boot installed on it between Windows Vista (the C drive) and Windows XP (the F drive). Windows XP is the operating system I am having issues with.Is F: a physical HDD or a partition ? ? Have you had her check her connection speeds lately ? ?
That PC should handle all her tasks with ease...The F drive is a partition which RUNS the Windows XP operating system she uses.. and the XP operating system is the one that the problem is occuring on.
The signal strength is reported as excellent going at 54 Mbps and I will try out speedtest.net in a second..
UPDATE: This was my third try on the site due to issues and mistakes the first two times, and although the site was the only site open on the computer, Internet Explorer was not the only program running (probably dosen't make a difference but just in case it does I said that).
The results were - Ping: 10 ms Download: 1.45 mbps Upload: 0.36 mbpsWhat type of internet connection is it?Has this computer been doing this since she got it?? I imagine the problem started happening some time ago but it worked fine when she got it?You might try turning off hardware acceleration, that can cure a lot of problems such as yours. If it doesn't you can always go back and turn it on again.
How to turn off Windows hardware acceleration, scroll down for XP
