i installed windows xp pro and when it was done my monitor looks like its in safe mode, and when i check the screen resolution it is set to lowest but it wont let me change it this is a gateway comp. can you help ? Did you recieve a Driver CD with this Gateway ? ?
If so you need to install the drivers...start with the CHIPSET first and then all others.
Installing the video driver will cure this issue...I did not get any disks with this GatewayYou will have to visit their site then and find the drivers using your Model # and Windows version....
Or you can DLoad ; install and run Everest Home (Free) which will tell you every component in that machine.I don't have internet on that COMPUTER so I'm connected to you on my laptop.
I have downloaded all the drivers from there web site and i will burn to disk,then I'm hoping i can install them from the disk is that possible?Yes.
Make sure they are the correct ones for your Model# and as i said the chipset drivers go FIRST...They have 2 sets one is ( XP ) the other is (XP 64 bit) I cant find a 64 bit any were so i will go with XP wish me luckTo find your Windows version OPEN Windows Explorer ( not Internet Explorer) and clik Help/About Windows...
