Solve : LOST uploaded images?

Answer»

HI.
ANY advice would be much appreciated. Yesterday, I downloaded all my JPEG files from my camera to my laptop.  I had looked at all the photos and even made some adjustments (rotated some pics)...  and then formatted my camera memory chip to take more pics.
THis morning when i tried to look at them i can't find them ANYWHERE. I searched for the folder name and even checked the trash/recycyle bin- no where to be found?  THESE ARE WEDDING PICTURES!!!!!
Does anyone know where i can find them?  What happened?
A NOTE- i did remember my computer not turning off properly last night- it took me several times to shut off but that was it.
thanks
natalianmrod9....... I'm confused , Your title is called " LOST uploaded images" .........
If you go to the site that you uploaded the images to .....then they should be there .

On the off-chance that you don't understand the differance ...between uploading and downloading ....... open your laptop and go to the file that you would normally download the images from your camera to your laptop. Thats where you should find them .

What do you mean , your machine wouldn't shut down properly ? Is this something that occurs on a regular BASIS ?

Let us know

dl65  dl65, he didn't put them on a website, he meant he transfered them to his laptop.

nmrod9, on the start menu, look in the my recent documents list. Then try  click run, then click browse. On the Window that appears, click on the look in menu, and select my recent documents. Can you find it in there? You were exactly correct Neil. I downloaded from my camera to my laptop- saved them under a file in "my pictures"... and even edited some of my pictures.
Later that night, i had tried to shutdown my computer and it was not shutting down- it froze in the "shutting down prompt".  So i held down the power button and it finally shut off...

What i dont understand is that they were saved... how can they just disappear?  I made a point to be sure they were in their own folder/saved as i did not want to confuse them with other photos.

I did what you suggested Neil, and i could not find them in my recent documents.    Is there any hope at all?Make sure you look in both lists as they are different. Otherwise I cannot think of much else. Maybe one of the others can.Try this
http://www.executive.com/undelete/undelete.aspnmrod9....... Was the last thing you were doing just prior having problems shutting down ....working on the wedding piscs ? If it was,its possible that the save process haven't finished or had hung.....and when you forced shutdown , the file which was being saved, was lost . You didnt mention if there was a shortcut to them  in your recent docs.......

YUP! I was looking at the pics... and actually, what i meant by editing them is that i was ROTATING the pics that needed rotation, it is a standard procedure that i do directly from the "WINDOWS PICTURE AND FAX VIEWER" program i use to look at my pics...  When i transfer pictures from my camera to my laptop- i simply open the files from my camera- then i drag them on to a new folder i create on a larger folder that is on my desktop.  This what I have been doing for years... I assumed that they were saved when i am then able to open and look at them in that folder as supposed to directly from my camera.

In addition, i had my laptop plugged in all day- and several hours later that night i shut it down... that is when it froze in the "windows in shutting down" screen... when it wouldnt shut down, i held down the power button until it did shut down.  I had turned it on today to look at the pics and am shutting it down right now- to REALIZE that there is something wrong- my computer does not turn off. It gets stuck in this shutting down mode.

Does this help you at all?

You have no idea how appreciative i am of any advice you can give me... I THOUGHT i was pretty savvy with computers but am feeling incredibly lost now. Is there a place i can take my computer to have it fixed adn hopefully find the files?

thank you!!!
nataliaDid you try the program in the link? Look near the top and select trial.hi
going to try that link now... just am nervous to do anything...
what do you think of this?  i tried to shut down my computer and it was stuck in that "windows is shutting down" mode and then when i held the on/off button and then restarted it... one of my two files that was missing showed up. (unfortunately it was the smaller of the two files) but... do you think that the process of shutting down is actually processing those files somehow?
do i have a virus? why did this file SHOW up out of no where?
should i just leave it in that mode for hours in hopes that it will get back the rest of the pics?
thanks
natalia
