computer running slow so i took it to known repair store (independent),found 400 plus malware and said some windows files were missing but was working ok.when i go to control panel,SYSTEM,hardware,hit device manager i get a warning saying "cannot find mmc.exe." any help out there?Go to the malware section of this forum and follow the instructions at the top of that page.i forgot to say all the malware had been removed.Try this. Type SFC /SCANNOW, that is: SFC(SPACE)/SCANNOW into Run.

To open the Run box, click Start, then Run. You will need a Windows CD for this. The purpose of this procedure is to restore the mmc.exe file. did that with my xp cd and the pc just sat there...You need to hit ENTER after typing the command into the run line...hit enter message saying checking PROTECTED files cd powering up and down progress bar came to an end pc sat there so i re-set and STILL the same,so if i have a problem i will have to re-install xp or w7 unless somebody has a better idea........
