Solve : Master boot record missing?

Answer»

Hello guys.
I am not sure whats going on here, but yesterday i turned the COMPUTER of as normal.
This morning i had problems.
Windows would not load.......what i COULD gather was it could not LOCATE the boot sector record.
I then put my Vista recovery options CD in, and what i could get from that was something like boot sector record missing....any ideas

I have managed to create a boot CD and have now got into windows.
But really where do i go from here..

Hello alan

I'll tell you where i went from here.

I went to the the recycle bin and found "NTDETECT.COM"
After doing a bit of research......i found out that "NTDETECT.COM" was not on the C:\ Drive.
Well it must have been there yesterday Re-traced my steps and found it there.

I had been getting rid of some folders and somehow this was selected with them.
I usually run CCleaner after every session on the computer......for some reason i didn't this time.

I did not know a file as critical as this could deleted by mistake.....

Just for reference........The normal text on screen as you turn the computer on.........but i noticed some extra text that said " Boot sector record missing" then it just repeats this over and over.
But everything is okay now?Quote from: Allan on August 15, 2010, 03:20:09 PM
