Solve : MB won't read HDD??

Hi folks...can anyone ASSIST with this issue?

I RECENTLY swept HDD due to serious virus infection
Went to re-install XP HOME edition and get a blue screen error "unknown DISK" (error stop- 0x000008E)
I do not beleive the MB is talking to the HDD...
I suspect I need to reinstall the HDD drivers, but can't get that to work. It's an ASUS K8V-MX motherboard. HDD is a WD800JD

Any help would be appreciated...thanks

Does this mean that you re-formatted your hdd, If so how did you re-format, i.e. did you use your XP install disk to do this or some other program?

That's a sata drive, are you installing the driver when called on to do so during XP setup (Press F6 ETC)?
