Solve : MBR problem?

Answer» Hi, I had 2 os Win 98 in C: & Win XP in D: , i formatted C: and installed UBUNTU, but There was the MBR, so it was erased...when i rebooted the computer my win xp is not detecting only ubuntu is detecting and when i TRIED to install a fresh copy of XP , it says SOMETHING like this " To install Win XP on the partition you selected, setup must write some startup files to the following disk. However this disk doesnot contain Win XP compatible partition." I tried different partitions to install and i tried FIXMBR, FIXBOOT & FIXBOOT D: , but nothing happens, pls help i am really stuck in this case can i use a bootdisk?? It is a Linux partition now since you installed Ubuntu...i believe you need to use UBUNTO to remove the partition and then re-create it to a Windows partition with the XP CD...
