Solve : McAfee unistalled, now IE and Outlook links are inoperable?

Answer»

Hello all,
After uninstalling Mcafee service center using the tool provided by Mcafee, IE and Outlook have run into problems. Most links on the web PAGES don't work. If anyone sends me an attachment I cant open it in MS outlook. Also tried to do a windows restore and the window comes up blank as well as when I try to do a Windows Update. Also tried it in SAFE mode using cmd prompt but I got the same results. Any one ever dealt with this before? It's not a virus as it didn't start until right after the Mcafee uninstall. Thanks in advance. I'm on a DEll running XP SP2Did you try System Restore?I tried but the restore window comes up blank and I cant find another way to perform the restore without using that window. Even tried it in safemode as well as using a cmd line. Do you know of another way to look at sytem restore? Thanks.Try doing an uninstall/reinstall of OE & IE thru Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.
Have your Windows CD handy.

Unfortunatly my Dell came with XP Media center already installed so I do not have a CD. I would contact Dell and see what it takes to get an OS CD...everyone needs one sooner or later.
Some manuf. charge only shipping and i BELIEVE Dell is one of them.

as long as you have the number on the sticker on the side or the back of your computer, you should be okYou don't have Recovery CD, either?I apoligize I had a brain fart. I have this computer for 18 months with no problem until now and had to dig up the disk. I am having my neighbor who is an IT professional come over and he will take a look at it. He CLAIMS to have had the same issues at his work and knows how to fix it. Thanks for all the help.No apologies neccessary here for Brain farts...we're a user-friendly Forum.

And Welcome Aboard.
