I am receiving MCI Error: "All wave devices that can play files in the CURRENT format are in use.  Wait until a wave device is free, then try again" in MS POWER POINT.  The problem results in .wav sound clips not playing in Power Point.
OS - XP SP3 - 3gb - Intel Core 2
MS HotFix does not apply to SP3 that was suppose to correct the problem.
Problem occurs with only one .wav sound file of less than 100MB.
Have tested sound card successfully.
.wav file does play in MEDIA Player.
Have MOVED the Power Point file to two other computers and can successfully replicate the problem.
I have MS tech support on it but after more than 96 hours they have not yet arrived at a solution.  Other computers using same OS.

FYI - this deficiency was prevalent in SP1 and SP2 and the HotFix allowed for a modification to the registry.  SP3 does not accept the same modification - or, at least, I haven't been successful - but the HotFix reads that is does not apply to SP3.


Any ideas?  Your help greatly appreciated!
