Answer» I have a Dell Inspiron GX 260 P4 2.8 with XP Pro SP3 with 2GB of ram. I needed to reboot my PC a time or two and have noticed that i keep getting the following message:
Memory address line failure at 5F6A2DCB Read 95959597. Expecting95999595 Decreasing availalable memory. The amount of system memory has changed. Hit F1 to enter setup Hit F2 to continue
I hit F2 to continue the BOOT process to XP. When I check properties on MY Computer to check my RAM it reads 1.49 instead of 2GB. Is it possible that only a SMALL PORTION of my RAM is not working, and the rest is Is that possible ?? How do I fix this ?? Can I fix this ??
Thanks
You try new RAM. But first, check for any debris or crud in the memory slot. Or on the memory chips. Do you live in an area will high DUST or high humidity? Yeah........ my PC is down under my desk...... I am sure there is lots of dust down there. I will blow out all the dust with some compressed air from the can and make sure there isnt any debris in the memory slot or on the RAM itself. I will keep u posted,
Tanks
I've seen those errors with a failing CMOS battery...for 3 Bucks i'd REPLACE it.
Do it with all power unplugged.
