Answer» When I log off my computer I often get this messege, "The memory could not be 'read' '0x01cc7902'". I upgraded to 1g of memory to try to fix this problem but it still happens and the 1g SEEMS to work fine.
The only other error messege I get is about Windows explorer needing to 'shut down' sometimes; often I still stay on the internet anyway or let it close and restart from the start menu fine.
Any help would be terrific! 1) When did this start happening? Did anything new get installed/uninstalled? 2) Google "Memtest 86." RUN that and see if you have bad RAM.Thanks for the reply, the problem began after I got high speed internet through Qwest; maybe a month or so after. The only things newly installed at the time were Runscape and Avernum2. I'm not really sure if the problem began before the games or not; I think it did.
I googled Memtest 86 and found the soft ware, the problem is that I'm not sure what to do with it now that it's on my computer and ALSO a cd. I tried downloadiing it and that didn't work, so I enabled cookies hoping that would help; it did download the FILE, but it won't run or even creat a short cut so I can ACCESS it with out trying to open the file with the mouse. I even tried saving it to a cd to see if that would help, and it still won't run.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what to do nextThe memory could not be read error most likely has nothing to do with computer's physical memory, but it's rather caused by software problem. Start with checking Event Viewer.
