Answer» Hi everyone,
I am wondering if anyone can help me with this problem I have with my digital camera memory stick.
When I insert the memory stick into any computer or laptop, the computer appears to recognise it (an icon appears in the "My Computer" folder).
However, when I click on the memory sticks icon it will not let me open the folder and therefore any of the files on the memory stick. It give the message: "Please insert a disk into drive ...".
Any ideas on what has HAPPENED and if/how I can go about fixing the problem and ultimately retreiving the files on the memory stick would be gratefully received.
I am using windows vista.
Thanks for you help. Does the memory card work in your camera? When its in the camera, and you turn it on, does it have any errors, and can it take pictures FINE?
If so, it could be a problem with your card READER. Things can get lodged in there. Be sure the card is being inserted all the way, only a little bit should be hanging outside the card reader. Also check to make sure its the right card reader.
If you cant figure out whats wrong with the card reader, (which could be a variety of problems, you may need to reinstall the driver) most cameras have a USB cable that will go directly into your computer so you can get photos that way.
Also, if you have a photo printer with a card reader built in, try plugging it into that. If your printer is CONNECTED to the computer, often the photos can be accessed through the printers card reader, they show up in My Computer like the internal card reader would. (But dont go about buying a photo printer just for that feature, its not worth it) the card works fine in the camera and i dont have a photo printer or usb cable.. when i insert the card into my computer a green light comes on so i know that is in there properlySome people seldom restart their computers, especially since operating systems are becoming so stable that its almost unnecessary... have you restarted since this ISSUE started?Try opening it from Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer)...Do you think it may be locked?
