Solve : Messages disappaer from inbox?

Answer»

Hi Folks

I'm MAKING my debut here!

I use Microsoft outlook for my e.mails.

The following problem occured about two weeks ago. Previously everything worked OK.

When I go into outlook my inbox lists all messages in date order. If I open a message then return to inbox, everything is OK and the message I've just looked at is there in the list.

However, If I open a message and then forward it or REPLY to it, when I return to the inbox, the message has disappeared from the list and I can't find it.

I have created a folder of "kept stuff" and if I send the message there prior to opening it, I can forward or reply to it and when I return to the folder, it's still there.

So, what I want to ask is, how can I stop the messages disappearing from the inbox and how can I access the messages which have gone?

Any advice welcome, please note that I'm not very computer literate so please be gentle!

I believe in MS Mail if you forward an e-mail it is then moved to your Sent folder...check in there for the missing ONES.
If you don't want this to occur then you can COPY/paste the contents of a recieved e-mail into a new message... Quote from: patio on February 26, 2013, 07:22:35 AM

I TESTED this with my Hotmail opened in Outlook.com and forwarded messages remained in Inbox. What I did notice is that a forwarded message will have a 2 in parenthesis added to the end of the of the original sender's name.  And, of course, a copy of the forwarded message also appears in the Sent folder.

Sorry, but I don't have an explanation for why ray sims is experiencing this problem. Thanx for checkin Soybean...it was a shot in the dark as i use neither service.Hi Folks

Thanks for the replies - I realise that sent/forwarded messages remain in the "sent items" but I would prefer it if they didn't disappear from the inbox list.

So if anyone can tell me how to fix this prob I'd be grateful.
