Solve : Microsoft Outlook,       sends but?

Answer»

HI all,
Just reformatted my hard drive and now am unable to receive emails but no problem sending them,
Have checked the setting but cannot see a problem with them.
This is what I get when I do a test

Establish network CONNECTION               Completed
Find outing mail server (smtp)              Completed
Find incoming server  (pop3)                Failed
Log onto incoming mail server pop3
Send test email                                Completed

Thanks for any help,
NedOkay - the most likely problem is an issue with your POP3 connection settings.  Sorry to ask, but please double-check these with your ISP.  In Advanced settings, ensure that you haven't changed the default PORT number (110), unless instructed to.  Ensure that you haven't checked the secure connection boxes, again unless instructed to.hi robpomeroy,
Thanks for that, I had a look ,
incoming server (pop3) 110 and the secure box is not cicked
any other ideas  !! :-?
nedI am having the opposite problem.  I can recive all my e-mails but cannot send them.  It says it is unable to connect to outgoing mail server.  error # 0X80042109.  I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling Outlook, enterned the name, password and server information numerous times, deleting the account and starting over.  Nothing works, I dont know what else to do.  Anyone have any adivce?  Thanks.

ILOTA sounds like you should be posting in a new topic unless your the same guy.

Any ways did you try microsoft solution?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302357 Out going email
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813514Yes I have tried all of those things many many times.  Nothing works.Do you have some sort of firewall using that port or any other applications that is using that port. SECOND is your providers SMTP working? How long have you had this problem? Who is your mail provider? The e-mail is through the company who hosts our website.  When they set-up the account with me, they gave me all the information I needed to put into outlook.  It has never worked, I use the WEBMAIL.  I tried contacting them a couple of times with this problem and they tried to figure out what was wrong but didnt find anything.

I tried changing the firewall settings, that didnt work.  Hi all,
I have now found out what the problem was, after checking my setting loads of time I tried
leaving off the 3 in pop3 and that was it , Job done.
I think because it stated :-

Find outing mail server (smtp)              Completed
Find incoming server  (pop3)                Failed

everywhere I just typed that in without thinking    :-?
anyway thanks for all your help
