Solve : Microsoft "Outlook" shuts down and restarts? |
|
Answer» Using Windows XP PRO, with Office Pro 2007 installed, Outlook, a few seconds after starting up, displays the "error occurred" message and shuts down, only to automatically restart, over and over and over. I ran the "Office Pro" installation disc and "repaired" Office, but the problem is still there. The computer is in the office of a family-owned construction business, and an e-mail from a client (the Wendy's chain) duplicates itself every time the program restarts. I erased the message, but it reappears every time the program restarts. Must I delete the entire Office suite and reinstall it? Can I just delete the Outlook and reinstall it? I also tried System Restore, to no avail. Helllllpp! Was anything new installed on the PC recently? What is the error in the Eventvwr "APP"Nothing new was installed before the problem began. It APPEARED to start when the email arrived from their customer (Wendy's), but they had three other emails from them the same day, before the one that started to copy itself with each reload. It was the standard Windows message: An error has occurred and Outlook has to close. And then it automatically reopens. And CLOSES. Etc..Did you try creating a new outlook profile? What is the backend? Exchange SERVER or POP? You can also try Outlook in safemode http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298838Got it! It seemed to be acting like a MILD virus, so I tried Threatfire and Comodo on it, and lo and behold, SALVATION! Between them, they found five Malware items, that, when removed, cleared up the problem. |
