That's a good machine, and since you have all the discs it should be no problem. I am assuming you have the RESOURCE CD as well? You have the original CD's for the other software you are running as well?

LET me know when you're ready to do it, and have everything backed up beforehand.

It should take about 3 hours or less including downloading all the Windows updates, etc. and you will just need occasional interaction with the machine.

Does the WIndows XP have service pack 2 on there? If not, you may want to download that and burn it to a CD, along with AdAware, SPYBOT, CCleaner, and Belarc Advisor. You can google for the exact locations. All of the drivers should be on the Resource CD, but here is a link to the Dell page to get the most current ones:

If you have everything ready on a CD, it will be even easier.Merlin, I did try the config, and nothing changed at all.

So, other than calling someone in to fix the pc or taking it somewhere. I guess we will need to reformat.

GX_1, I will spend tomorrow copying files. I am only concerned about my MS Office, as I no longer have the key for it. Other than that, I do have all the cds the sytem came with.
