HERES THE ISSUE... WE HAVE A YAHOO EMAIL ADDRESS AND OFTEN LIKE TO COPY AND PASTE OUR RECIEVED EMAILS INTO A WORD DOCUMENT. EVERYTIME WE TRY TO DO SO WORD FREEZES, AND IT SAYS THAT WORD HAS ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR AND MUST SHUT DOWN..

NOW WE HAVE DONE THIS COUNTLESS TIMES BEFORE AND SUDDENLY LAST WEEK WE RAN INTO THIS GLITCH... EVERYTHING ELSE ON WORD AND OUR COMPUTER IS WORKING FINE..

IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO FIX THIS MATTER? WE TRYED TO REINSTALL WORD BUT THAT JUST GOT MESSY... WE HAVE LITTLE COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE TO START WITH!

All of these files should be deleted by Word but, they often are not.


The file names all BEGIN with a tilde (~) so search your hard drive for ~*.doc and ~*.dot and delete any you find.you could uninstall word and use "Abi Word" or "Open Office" the ENTIRE office sweet...

both are free, beter, and portable, wich makes it more gooderYou might want to try going to the Word Edit menu drop down and click "paste SPECIAL". Try pasting in formatted text RTF or in unformatted text to see if the problem persists.

Have you installed any new progs from the time this problem started - some may change the defualts?OP seems to have gone AWOL. Quote
