I was wondering if you could tell me how to get rid of those THINGS in the corners of the pages as they are really annoying me and ive been getting stressed trying to FIGURE out how to make them go away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It's an app I don't use but try View>Guidelines and untick Margins.

Also look at Abiword as an alternative if needed.

If you've never made any changes in the registry and WANT to try this but are reluctant to do so, post back for more help.  I actually received two replies, the second one advising me to backup that part of Registry before making any changes.  That's always  a good idea.  To do that, "select the LanguageResources key
mentioned in the post and use File > Export to make a backup (as a .reg
file) of the entire contents of the key. Then if you don't like the results,
you can just double-click the .reg file to restore the original contents."Hey,

Thanks a lot for all your help I tried all of the suggestions and eventually I got rid of the corner marks I think I will try using openoffice too. Save myself from future microsoft word related stress. Thanks again for all your help it really is very much appreciated.
