I have 'Word Works' as it came with my laptop. You need to change it from a .wps file to a .doc file. This can be done within 'word works'. You need to open the document in word works and then GO to 'save as'.
When the save box opens go to the bottom of the window where it says save as .wps, open up the box scrole down and save as a microsoft word 97 .doc file.
It is a pain as I have ran into this problem many times when trying to SEND documents to people who only have MS Word.
