Solve : microsoft xp pro outlook 2002 help?

Answer»

i had a damaged profile on my outlook, but couldn't fix it through the normal way of creating a new profile through the control panel.

so i used the XP disk and detect/repaired the program. it fixed it but deleted all my email. is there anyway that i can get this back? when i logged onto outlook after i fixed it, the message popped up saying that the information on my old profile could be transferred.

how do i do this...is it possible? opened up control panel..only has one email profile so where am i supposed to access my initial account? What version of Office are you using, or are you using Outlook Express?

If you are using Outlook, and have Office 2000 and up, you should be able to go to Start> Programs> Find Microsoft Office> Microsoft Office Tools> "Diagnostics" (or some sort of repair option should be in there)

Run that program, it may take up to 15 minutes to run. It should detect office related problems, which the XP detect and repair feature will not find.

Does that work for you?
the easiest THING would be to go in and do a search of your entire hard drive (make sure you specify system and hidden folders too). Type "*.pst" into the search field (WITHOUT the quotes) and if any are found that are larger than 10 or so megs write down the path to it and then go into outlook and click file...open...outlook data file and from there add that "lost" pst file to your list. You will probably also want to set that pst file back to your default mail file. (and for crying out loud back up your pst file if it's so IMPORTANT!!)

...now all that I've told you will help you FIND your file. If your outlook installation or PST file is simply jacked then just do what Zylstra saidhey thanks!! i found all my files (and yes...i'm BACKING them up now).
