Answer» I tunred my PC off and when I tunred it back on I noticed all my desk top icons are not there !! !! Whats up with that ??/!!!?!? Thanks I too have this problem! But what I would like to know is what I can do to get back my desktop icons, without having to go through task manager?Since no one at this site has any solutions I WENT to another site and was informed that I can use the XP Operating Disk and use the Repair option instead of the install option. I havent tried this yet cause I am looking for my XP OS disk !!??!?! You could try this tool. Please download Unhide by Grinler from here and save it to your desktop. Double click unhide.exe to run the tool. It will TAKE some time to go through all your files, so please be patient. If this tool doesn´t fix the problem, please let me know. I RAN the unhide.exe file and got two messages: 1) Finished your files should be visible now. if you still cant see the Start Menu disable any Anti-Virus or security settings and try again... 2) The E;\docmument ~1\admin`1\locals~1\temp\smtmp folder does not exist. Are ther many User accounts on this PC ? ?In Safe Mode the screen goes black with only a mouse cursor and the words safe mode on the screen. There is only one user" me". However, I dont know if this makes a difference do have 2 hard drives ATTACHED to this PC. Thanks

You could try this tool.

Please download Unhide by Grinler from here and save it to your desktop.
Double click unhide.exe to run the tool.
