Solve : Missing IMAPI.exe and DLL?

Answer»

I am missing IMAPI.exe and DLLs. I am trying to burn a CD with WMP. It says connect a burner in WMP. My Windows is a slimmed down version my friend made me a few years ago, of my copy of Windows XP. I have lost my original copy of Win XP i only have the slimmed down CD my friend made me. I dont know why he took out this service. but he did put in, imapi2.dll and imapi2fs.dll and imapi.sys. I dont see IMAPI service running in the services.msci also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drives, i have 2 and both are not shownTravel to Control Panel and check any devices with a yellow ? or !...

DLoad and reinstall those device drivers and re-boot.

NOTE: Don't rely on Windows Update to do so...get them from the manuf. Support site...I am missing a driver for "PCI input device" but i know what that is. my problem is i dont have IMAPI.exe on my PC at all. I am using win XP. I can burn with NERO, but I want to burn with WMP. is there ANYWAY for me to download or get this service? or am i SOL.Re-install your MBoard chipset drivers...that's what's wrong...can you please explain Why that is the problem?

Because I just reinstalled the chipset drivers.... and nothing...

still missing IMAPI.exe from my system, which i understand is needed for WMP to recognize my Burning drives. Also needed for Windows to write files to a CD/DVD (with out a 3rd party prog.)**BUMP**

Does anyone have a solution for this? The other thing you can try is go to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit ENTER...
Have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it...
Let it run to completion...remove the XP CD and re-boot.

You need a full Windows XP CD to do so...
You should have gone legit long ago...
