Answer» Hello NEW MEMBER here, Today when I turned on my computer I had a black screen and I had the following messages: Missing or corrupted files C:windows IFSHLP.SYS Windows system VMM32.VXD Type the name of the windows LOADER..
I have no idea what happened. I shut it down normally last NIGHT.
I have Windows ME and I use NSW and ran all my scans early this week.
I have one more question, how do you get a computer out of safe mode? We have tried doing a system checkpoint, and many other things that don't seem to work. I don't know how to get to that screen that says that you have 25 seconds to select safe or normal mode... Any help on these matters will be greatly APPRECIATED.
Thanks, Redd Do you have a WIndows CD to reinstall with if you need to? I sense there are MANY problems with that machine. When did it last work right, and what has happened to it?It shut down normally night before last with no problems. I have a cd that came with the computer, but I have never had to use it. I haven't had any problems with it in the last year or so. I have Windows ME. I also use Norton SW and Spybot S&D. I run weekly scans and it always comes up clean. Can someone tell me what to do about the missing files or what I need to type in for the windows loader, or at least something helpful to me, before I have to take it somewhere. Thanks, ReddWinME has system restore. Have you tried it?
