Answer» I was adding more MEMORY to my LAPTOP a Quantex and it did not work right and now get the message WINDOW COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT. SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\PCI.SYS
YOU CAN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS FILE BY STARTING WINDOWS SETUP USING THE ORIGINAL SETUP CD-ROM
The computer came with windows98se and it now has XPP with SERVICE pack2. I have the 98se disks and the 2003 upgrade for xpp have tried both to recover the sys32 FILES but still can not get the computer to boot to windows. Tried reloading xpp and it gets to LOADING KERNEL DEBUGGER DLL AND HANGS UP THERE.
I am new with all this so don't know what to do next. :-?Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319136I changed the memory to 512 from 128 and the computer seems to be working ok so don't really know why this happened but seems ok for now. Thanks for your help.
