Solve : Missing vgaoem.fon?

Answer»

So. my lady was crusin the internet (on an XP os) tonight when it started running extra slow, went to the blue screen and shut down. upon restart we learn that it will not reboot because the file c:\windows\system\vgaoem.fon is missing or corrupt. So I proceeded to find out how to solve this prob. I found that by using an xp disk I can choose to boot from the disk and then repair the missing or corrupt file. So I finally get a command prompt by selecting repair from the options on the xp cd.
I get to the xp disk and find the file on the disk e:\i386\vgaoem.fo_ . So i go into the dir. i386
and type this command. "E:\I386>expand vgaoem.fo_c:\windows\system" and it tells me "Access is denied"
WHile I was trying to find the SOLUTION to this prob. most recomendations TOLD me that I would be asked to enter the admin password. but I NEVER got prompted too. IM the first owner of this computer and have only had it for about a year. I never set an admin pass when I initally started using the pc either.
I run my dj biz. of this laptop and cant afford to lose my whole music collection and contracts and everything else. PLS PLS Help.

E:\I386>expand vgaoem.fo_c:\windows\system
Your command is incorrect. It should read:
expand e:\i386\vgaoem.fo_c:\windows\systemCan you boot to Safe Mode, go into Device Manager and delete the video driver, then reboot?
