Solve : moved files around to drives....now all not working properly?

Answer»

Hi all, please help i have windows XP....I tried to add more space to a drive & moved programs & misc files from one drive to another....now all my files are a mess & programs r not working how can i get them all back where they belong....for example mspaint no longer shows in my acessories....is there a program that will correct my mistakes & put files back where they belong? You need to be more explicit about what you did. I took files from my C: presario H.... local disk to make more room & moved them to my C: storage disk
Example i moved Mspaint in error as well as many others & now it now longer shows in my accesories nor does it open pictures....my files are a mess. is there any way to get them all back where they belong.....tried restore already....DIDNT correct

I don't know what that means. I don't know what or where those disks / drives are (same computer, different hd's, etc). Please be explicit about what you did.same computer.....

sorry im TRYING to explain the best i can.....
my h drive said i needed to free up space....
i started with disk clean up &  then BIG MISTAKE...went to explorer & moved files that i thought would still open (mspaint) from my h presario drive to my c storage drive.....what a mess
for example I took mspaint out of h drive & put it in c storage drive.....now it does not work?

when i go into my h & C drive now i do see different colors black & BLUE for the files there which leads me to believe that its tellin me of course that they DONT belong there

I still don't completely UNDERSTAND, but okay. Is there some reason you can't simply put the files back in their original locations?I am not sure which & where they goHi Allan,
tks for your time....I guess i was hoping there was something i could just run to put all files back where they belong to operate properly... Nope. Sorry. You should have created a disk image before making any changes. Unless you can manually restore them to their original locations I'm afraid you are out of luck.Oakey dokey tks again.....great site & will use again...  http://www.microsoft.com/windows/searchlp.aspx?CMXID=2120.E86D5342-2D1D-40CA-8C29-161552F3A57C&WT.srch=1&category=XP_Downloads
