Solve : MS word help?

Answer»

Could somebody please help me...
By default when a word document is saved by clicking on the Save as option, the dialog pops up which has a list of save as file TYPE(file extension) drop down list. the default ones are .DOC, .html..rtf, ETC .....
I would like to have another customized file extension ie. something like .irpt
Could anyone tell me if its possible to add a new file extension in the ALREADY existing list?.....please lemme know in Windows explorer you can go to Tools-folder options->filetypes. there you can add your new extension then associate it with Word. OR you could get the resource kit command line tool "ASSOCIATE" to add your new extension. http://www.ss64.com/nt/associate.htmlthank you so much for the information...but could you please tell me why the extension that I have added newly to the REGISTRY doesnt show up in the save as type drop down box.....could you please tell me why this is happening?.....
When I open a new document, and when I save it, I need to save it by selecting the new file extension that I have added....
please helpsorry misunderstood your qns.
i think what you need is some conversion filters.
