Solve : MS XP Installer? |

Answer» HI All, I had a old program that I wanted to remove from my XP machine..SP2. I ran the add/remove tool and it got RID of most of it. Than I found a folder in the program files folder of the old software. Thinking that I didn't need that any more I deleted it. Now every few mins I get the MS installer poping up to run the install for the prgram that is no longer there. It crashes and after clicking ok it starts to install it again. I found a tool on MS web site called MSICUU2.exe which is a installer cleaner. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 The problem is that when you run it you get a list of programs to clean...all MS programs and the one I want is not listed. I can't stop the installer from starting. I am stuck in a loop with the installer poping up crashing...starting up again....etc... Any ideas? The trouble shooting at the bottom of the page is no help. The problem is that the cleanup tool does not list the program I am trying to clean. In a nutshell the cleanup tool is of no use. I have used a few quick downloads to clean/fix the REGISTRY with no luck also. I need to know where the program is starting from to kill it. Or find a fix for this. The program is called Proshots Studio version 6. Thanks again! TweakUI for XP Warning : This is a powerful tool. Make proper backups of the registry before making anything other than cosmetic changes.Thanks for the link...I have used tweakui before. Good idea... I will let you know how it works out.. You're more than Welcome...Another idea to try is to reinstall that program, and try to uninstall again (not DELETING anything)I would like to do the reinstall...but I don't have the software anymore. Oh well...its an old program. Thanks! |
